An application may support the business operation you need even when there is no dedicated node for it. n8n’s HTTP Request node can call REST endpoints. The application’s API contract determines which operations, permissions and data formats are available.

How to approach the implementation
Check the API contract
Confirm the endpoint, permitted operation and subscription requirements. Ask for documentation and a sandbox where available. Do not assume that a feature in the app’s interface is also exposed by its API.
Use scoped credentials
Create access appropriate to the workflow and store it as a credential rather than embedding a key in content or exported examples. Agree ownership and rotation responsibilities.
Map inputs and responses
Define required fields and identifiers. Validate the response and preserve the destination record ID so subsequent updates target the right record.
Plan for service limits
Handle pagination when reading lists. Respect provider rate limits, apply bounded retries for suitable transient failures and review errors that require a data or permission change.

Watch out for
Blindly retrying a create request can produce duplicates. Use the provider’s idempotency support or a durable action record where appropriate.
How to check whether it is working
Test success, invalid data, revoked access, rate limiting and ambiguous timeouts before rollout.
