To get paid collaborations on Instagram, define your audience, show relevant work, prepare recent performance figures and approach brands or agencies with a specific content idea. A large follower count alone does not secure a campaign. Brands also need audience fit, reliable delivery and a clear agreement about what they are buying.
This guide is for creators in India who want to move from informal enquiries to properly scoped paid projects. It describes a practical process, not a promise of earnings. If you are ready to share your profile, apply to the Esperto creator network.
What is a paid collaboration?
A paid collaboration is an arrangement in which a creator receives an agreed monetary fee for specified work. That might include a reel published to the creator’s audience, a set of photos or a video delivered for the brand’s own channels. A free product, discount or affiliate commission is a different compensation arrangement. Ask which applies before accepting a brief.
| Arrangement | What to clarify |
|---|---|
| Paid post or reel | Fee, posting date, deliverables and how long the post stays live |
| UGC production | Assets delivered, revisions and where the brand can use them |
| Product collaboration | Whether posting is expected and whether any cash fee is included |
| Affiliate work | Commission rules, attribution window and payout conditions |
1. Make your creator profile easy to evaluate
Your bio should explain your niche, language and audience. Make your contact route visible and pin examples that represent the work you want to sell. A food creator seeking local restaurant work might show a venue walkthrough, a dish-focused reel and a useful local recommendation. Choose examples that demonstrate the proposed format rather than unrelated high-view posts.
Create a simple portfolio link with three to five representative pieces. Label previous sponsored work accurately. If a piece is a self-initiated sample, say so; do not imply a brand commissioned it.
2. Prepare audience evidence before pitching
Record your follower count, audience locations and recent content performance with a date range. For video, a median across a stated set of recent comparable posts can be more informative than one unusually successful reel. Identify paid boosts and giveaways that could distort a comparison.
Keep a short media kit that includes your niche, languages, audience geography, available formats, sample links and business contact. Never share account passwords or login codes to prove your results. Where further evidence is needed, agree a suitable way to share the relevant insights.
3. Find brands and agencies that match your audience
Build a shortlist based on product relevance, price point, geography and content style. Explain why your audience would care about the product. For agency outreach, check whether the agency accepts creator applications and whether its work fits your niche. Some agencies buy campaigns for brands; others offer ongoing talent representation. Those are different relationships.
Use the agency’s creator application where one exists. At Esperto, creator registration is free and separate from the website collaboration offer. Joining our network is not an exclusive representation contract and does not guarantee a campaign.
4. Send a useful pitch
A strong pitch connects one audience insight with one feasible idea. Avoid sending a large generic list of deliverables before understanding the objective.
Hello [team], I create [niche] content in [language] for [audience/location]. I noticed [relevant product or campaign]. I would propose [specific idea and format] because [audience fit]. Here are two examples: [links]. My recent comparable posts typically receive [accurate metric and period]. Are you considering paid creator work for this campaign? I can share a scoped quote once the deliverables and usage are clear.
Follow up politely with any useful new information. If there is no response or the fit is wrong, move on. Avoid mass messages that misrepresent a relationship or claim results you cannot support.
5. Agree payment and rights before producing the content
Confirm the contracting party, fee, payment milestones, approval owner, delivery dates, included revisions and cancellation terms. Ask whether the brand wants organic reposting, paid advertising, raw footage or exclusivity. These can materially change the scope and price.
For example, one reel posted to your profile is not automatically permission for a brand to run that video as an advertisement indefinitely. Use our influencer rate-card guide to separate the components of a quote. Clarify whether the stated payment is before or after any agency fee and applicable deductions.
6. Disclose the relationship and report honestly
ASCI’s guidance covers material connections such as payments and free products, and calls for disclosure that viewers can readily notice. Review the official ASCI guidance when planning sponsored content. Agree the disclosure approach during briefing rather than after publication.
After publishing, report the metrics agreed in the brief at the agreed interval. Separate views, reach, clicks and sales: they answer different questions. Do not infer sales from views alone. Keep approved assets, delivery records and invoice details so both sides can resolve questions.
Can small influencers get paid collaborations?
They can be considered when their content, audience and location match a brief. There is no single follower threshold that guarantees payment. A small specialist audience may be relevant to a particular campaign, while a content-production project may not require distribution to your audience at all.
Do you need an agency to get brand deals?
No. Creators can negotiate directly with brands or work through agencies. An agency arrangement should make its services, fees, responsibilities and any exclusivity clear. Compare the actual terms rather than assuming that representation automatically increases income.
